Wheeler Creek CDC Receives Grant To
Provide Training In Health Care Professions

Wheeler Creek Community Development Corporation (WCCDC) was recently awarded a grant from the Government of the District of Columbia Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development through the Neighborhood Grants Program. The purpose of the funding is to support WCCDC in providing skills training and placement assistance in the area of allied health professions.

The program has the potential to train 45 eligible residents from the targeted communities as pharmacy technicians, dialysis technicians, and phlebotomy technicians. The three-month training program will include professional training preparing students for certification exams and providing job placement assistance through existing WCCDC programs that offer a competitive edge to participants.

An Open House at Wheeler Creek Community Center will be held for persons interested in participating in this program in January 2007. For more information call WCCDC at (202) 574-1508.
