Microsoft founder Bill Gates began his global multi-billion dollar computer empire as a small business. Frederick W. Smith idea for Federal Express was first given voice in a college term paper. Brothers Maurice “Mac” and Richard “Dick” McDonald, dreamed up the concept for a new type of fast service restaurant that became the inspiration for McDonald’s—the world’s largest chain of fast food restaurants—from one small eatery. From small beginnings these visionaries were able to take their ventures to the next level.
But, starting and managing a business (let alone growing that business) is not easy. It takes perseverance, talent, money, and ingenuity...and everything else that an entrepreneur has to offer. In addition, running a business requires research and planning.

The Howard University Small Business Development Center will again provide instruction for the NxLevel for Start-Up Businesses course. The 10-week program is scheduled to begin in mid-September.
