The Wheeler Creek Community Development Corporation (WCCDC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious F.B. Heron Grant given to promote wealth creation strategies for low-income families and their communities!
Mr. Alemayehu Mihret, WCCDC Associate Director for Project Management, says the financial award will “develop our capacity towards advancing home ownership opportunities as well as enhancing our capacity for small business development.”
The F.B. Heron Foundation refers to itself as “a private, grantmaking institution dedicated to supporting organizations with a track record of building wealth within low-income communities.” After a rigorous acceptance process - including assessment visits from representatives of the foundation – F.B. Heron awarded Wheeler Creek the grant; indicating their faith in the extraordinary work WCCDC has accomplished in our community!
The new funding will help the Community Supportive Services Program (CSSP) initiatives that are changing both residents’ lives – and the larger community. And, as Mr. Mihret says, “It’s recognition of the work we’re doing!”
