WHEELER CREEK MINORITY WORKERS TRAINING PROGRAM
– A SMASHING SUCCESS
The first cycle for the WC MWTP concluded on May 26, 2006. The 12- week Environmental and Remediation training was a success with eighteen (18) graduates. The students received professional development training, participated in Shop Classes at the Joint School of Carpentry, and received federal certifications in Asbestos, Hazwoper, Lead Abatement, Mold, and Confined Spaces.
We have begun the recruitment process for the 2nd cycle which is tentatively scheduled to begin in October 2006. Candidates must be 18-30 years old, Possess a HSD/GED, Be Drug Free and able to commit to a 12-week program. Interested persons should contact Michael Clarke or Luella Johnson at (202) 574-1508.
